Waterside Shops to host “Tool Belts and Shopping Bags” Jan. 19 to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Collier County

NAPLES, Fla. (October 20, 2011) – Habitat for Humanity of Collier County will host “Tool Belts and Shopping Bags,” a happy hour and shopping fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6 – 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by Waterside Shops, Nordstrom, Brio Tuscan Grille, Decanted Wine & Beer, Sunshine Ace Hardware and Naples Illustrated. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $100 per person and the proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Collier County, helping to fund the land and materials required to build affordable homes for local families in need. The event begins at 6 p.m. with an auction and raffle at the Waterside Shops Pavilion Courtyard while guests enjoy food provided by Brio Tuscan Grille, beverages donated by Decanted Wine & Beer, individual chocolate gifts by Norman Love Confections and entertainment from vocalist Wendy Renee.

Donning tool belts, hard hats and armed with shopping bags, volunteers from Habitat for Humanity of Collier County will direct guests to Nordstrom at Waterside Shops Pavilion in Naples to begin their shopping.

Nordstrom will provide desserts, coffee and beverages for guests.  In addition, guests can visit the “Neighborhood of Dreams” to fund the construction of items such as a Habitat home, a child’s bedroom, a kitchen and more.

Habitat for Humanity of Collier County has been serving families since April 1978 and has built more than 1,400 homes to date. It is one of the oldest and most successful affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, which was organized in Americus, GA in 1976. Locally, a small, professional staff manages the general programs with assistance from a Board of Directors made up of men and women in Collier County who volunteer their time to Habitat for Humanity.
