A Critical Moment
More than 50,000 Collier County workers can’t afford to live here.
More than 6 in 10 Collier County renters struggle with housing costs. Nearly 1 in 3 are forced to spend half or more of their income on housing. As costs continue to rise, many of the workers who keep our community running are being priced out of the place they serve.

What does it take to build affordable homes?
Land, infrastructure and construction costs are higher than ever. Here’s a look at the major components that make a Habitat community possible, and how your support will help turn blueprints into safe, stable neighborhoods.
Land & Preparation

The availability and cost of land in Collier County are two major challenges for an affordable builder. For us, land acquisition means significant investments in our budget, this includes the costs of surveying, permitting, engineering, and more.
Infrastructure & Development

per home
Escalating building prices are a big driver in our need for additional capital. These costs include clearing and grading, roads, utilities, streetlights, sidewalks, and other essential services that help our communities continue to function.
Building Materials
$184,000
per home
Rising costs of building materials have greatly increased the overall cost of construction. These materials are essential for creating high-quality homes that meet tough safety standards. Our current average building materials cost is about $153/ft2.
Support Services
Funds will also be used to provide support services for homeowners, including financial education, home maintenance training, and community association support and other homeowner empowerment activities. These services help ensure long-term success and stability for our homeowners.
Historically, nearly 95 cents of every dollar going directly into the acquisition, land development and home building process, leaving 5% of the budget to fund all of our administrative support.
