Golden Gate City

After the fall of the housing market in 2008, Habitat Collier shifted gears to focus on purchasing homes out of foreclosure that would then be “rehabbed” to like-new condition and sold to Habitat partner families. Many of the foreclosed homes that were purchased were located in Golden Gate City and had fallen into disrepair, which negatively affected those who lived there. Habitat Collier was able to buy and renovate these properties for less than the cost of building new homes, helping to bring hardworking new families into the community and revitalize Golden Gate City. During this initiative, Habitat Collier was able to purchase, rehab, and sell 70 homes in Golden Gate City. To date, we have built or rehabbed over 115 homes.
